Owners, Please go to the Owner's Page for resort updates.

Greetings to our valued owners and guests,

We are excited to announce the opening of Sand Pebble Resort beginning Friday, January 17, 2025. We ask for your patience and understanding as the property is still under repairs following the historical storm surge and damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

All units are ready for occupancy with upgraded Wi-Fi and expanded TV Channel Guide.
The beach is open and never been wider for your enjoyment! Please access the beach through the back of the property as the boardwalks on both sides have not been repaired.

Unfortunately, due to the extensive damage, amenities will be limited or not available at all for your stay. The pool and spa are closed. We have placed fencing around them for your safety. We have opened as much of the deck as possible. We have ordered new deck furniture, with an expected delivery in a few weeks.

The social gathering spot at the bar was washed away. We are replacing the affected decking area this weekend. This will increase the area for your use. All social activities are suspended until further notice.

Currently, we have one operating elevator. The second elevator requires additional repairs due to the saltwater intrusion. The stairs are accessible if you find yourself waiting for the elevator.

Please expect construction crews to be on site as we repair walls on the first floor, rebuild the front desk area and restore the beautiful landscaping that was lost.
Our communications systems were heavily damaged causing us to have limited phone access. We have contracted Spectrum for a new phone switch and equipment.
As earlier reported, the devastation to your vacation experience extends beyond the immediate property. While the island is open, your favorite shopping, restaurants, activities, services, and other supporting businesses may be on reduced hours or still closed.

Our team is eager to welcome you and make your “home away from home” comfortable and memorable.

Hurricane Milton Update 10/17/2024
Temporary Closure & Reservation Cancellations

Greetings to our valued owners,

As we assessed the damage and cleaned up from Hurricane Helene, we faced mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Milton. The ground floor damages sustained from Helene were compounded by the winds and storm surge from Hurricane Milton. Fortunately, all team members are safe.

As of this notice, Sand Pebble Resort only has partial power. The on-site team led by Jo-Ann McNew and contractors are cleaning the grounds, inspecting all units, and salvaging items where possible. We are securing contractors for the needed attention to the elevators, pool, and spas.

The meeting house at the front of the property sustained damage, including a destroyed chimney, missing shingles, and a hole in the roof that allowed water intrusion. The overall property destruction, as evidenced by the photos, has led us to declare the resort closed until January 17, 2025. As always, the safety of our owners and team members and structural building integrity is our priority. We will monitor the cleanup and prep required for reopening before determining when the conditions are safe and suitable for occupancy. Even after we reopen, there may be ground-floor amenities that are not available.

The devastation to your vacation experience extends beyond the immediate property. The area is not open for tourists as shopping, restaurants, activities, services, and other supporting businesses are destroyed, not expected to reopen, or unable to provide services.

Capital Vacations will notify all owners, exchange, and rental guests up to and including week 2 2025 (November 1, 2024 to January 10, 2025). Should you have any questions, please do not attempt to call the resort directly. Our informed agents are available at 833-715-0161. The Board of Directors has rescheduled their meeting to December 2, 2024, with planned discussions for insurance, reopening, and displaced owners.

On a somber note, we are saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our Board President, Brian Bechtel. Brian and his wife Lynn evacuated during Hurricane Helene to be with family. He was found unresponsive with no apparent reason for his death. Please keep the Bechtel family in your thoughts and prayers.

We will provide storm and reopening updates on the Sand Pebble Resort website and directly to you.

Respectfully,
Sand Pebble Resort

Hurricane Milton Update 10/08/2024

Due to approaching Hurricane Milton, Pinellas County where Sand Pebble Resort is located is under mandatory evacuation. The resort remains closed due to the damages sustained by Hurricane Helene.

Please monitor this site for updates

Hurricane Helene Update 10/3/2024

Temporary Closure & Reservation Cancellations

Greetings to our valued owners,

Hurricane Helene produced a storm surge in the Treasure Island area that caused extensive damage to the ground floor common areas and disrupted operations at Sand Pebble Resort. The devastation is being described as a “war zone” with damages to buildings and infrastructure all along Gulf Blvd.

The local authorities did not grant entry access to business owners until late Saturday afternoon. We immediately responded with our on-site team led by Jo-Ann McNew, a Capital Vacations task force led by Bob Gaul, and BMS-CAT, a remediation contractor.

The destruction, as evidenced by the photos, has led us to declare the resort closed until November 1, 2024, at the earliest. The power has just been restored, water remains off, the elevator pits have salt water, and the pool equipment is destroyed. We will monitor the cleanup and prep required for reopening before determining when the conditions are safe and suitable for occupancy. Even after we reopen, there may be ground floor amenities not available.

All owner, exchange, and rental guests for weeks 39-43 have been notified by Capital Vacations. Should you have any questions, please do not attempt to call the resort directly. Our informed agents are available at 833-715-0161. The Board of Directors is scheduled to meet in November and will discuss how best to address the displaced owners.

Please keep all in your thoughts, especially our onsite team and those who have lost their lives or have been displaced from their home.

We will provide updates in the coming days and weeks.

Respectfully,
Sand Pebble Resort
